Review: a Touch of Betrayal
Review: a Touch of Betrayal |
Posted: *SPOILERS* I adored Mitch and Everly together, but I knew there was going to come a time for Tynan Pierce to seriously enter the picture. We've definitely entered a "turning point" for Everly, and it's brutal, final, and no-going-back. At least when she and Pierce hook-up it will be legit. Did I like this book. No. There wasn't anything TO like about this book. It was about as downer as it gets. Everything that can go bad for Everly, does. The ending sucked. Do I like Everly. Yes. Do I enjoy L.J. Charles writing. Yes. I cried through the last 3 chapters. And then I read them again and cried. It was not the way I'd have liked it to be/end/etc. I felt like we, as readers, had been as set up as Everly, so I guess points for Ms. Charles on the empathy factor. Am I recommending it. Yes, because you can't finish the series without it. It's like Harry Potter's Order of the Phoenix. Some books set plots up for other books. I totally get it. If you are an Everly fan, too, you will have to read it because it sets up the "real" happy ending. She's living in paradise, surrounded by friends, and she's gotten to the point where she's ready to make real, family-life decisions. Yes, this is definitely a different Everly than we've seen prior to this book. |
